The Algerian singer, Djillali Rezkellah, has passed away from stomach cancer at the age of 49.
Born in Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria, he was a member of the mid-80s Raï group Raina Rai/Amarna. One of their most famous songs was 'Ya Zina' (Oh Beautiful Girl).
Over the past year, there was a grassroots effort to provide assistance to Djillali and his family - he was a beloved figure to not only Algerians, but across the Maghreb and France.
