Haaaaaaaaa I don't know why, but for some reason I love this.
If you can figure out how to navigate his website and what it all means, I think there's something there about his new album, out this year.

I remember thinking Contra wasn't a great album when I bought it, but I definitely recognized that sample when the video started up. Apparently parts of it were more memorable than I expected.
Also, I have no idea who Momus is, but I figure I'm about to get educated on that point now that I've made the admission.

I really miss Momus' Livejournal. In retrospect, it might have been the last thing keeping me on Livejournal.

Momus, Rooting Like A Tree. Or possibly Salty Hot Everything.

It never really bothered me that it was on Live Journal roll truck roll. I thought there was a certain "retro-asian" charm to the place. I find more and more that I like that early version of the internet. But I'm someone who has never even been on face book.
Plastics a go-go :)

Momus and Vampire Weekend:
Here's where they send him fanmail and he writes a blog post to say they're not really his thing.
Here's where he defends his right to not love Vampire Weekend - indie-blogosphere backlash be damned!
Here's where he reverses his opinion on the band, claiming that his change of heart came about because they "took it to the next level" on Contra.

My Momus experience has kind of arced from awesome, around the Circus Maximus era, up to unbridled genius through his albums with Grand Magistery, to just accepting that he's either gone totally fucking nuts, or has ascended to a plane that I'll never be able to grasp with my tiny hu-man brain, or maybe both.

If the four square blocks surrounding the Bedford Ave L stop in Brooklyn was a video this is the video it would be (for like, the next ten minutes).

I really miss Momus' Livejournal. In retrospect, it might have been the last thing keeping me on Livejournal.
He's got a tumbler feed:http://mrstsk.tumblr.com/
which, so far, has been free from that-which-cannot-be-unseen.
I'm hoping he'll soon revert to the longer, rambling essays that made his livejournal so engaging.

That's well said Shepherd, and I can certainly empathize. I think if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to sum up momus in two words, those words would have to be... bi sexual.
