Interesting topic. I'd never heard of this photographer before. His work is quite artistic. Thanks for introducing me to Mr. Liu!
Also, I love posts like this. If anyone hasn't noticed, some of the words (Opera, Chinese) contain multiple links.

The staging of the subjects and color palette are 100% Joel-Peter Witkin, except without the transgressive content. Don't search for Witkin's stuff unless you want to see S/M, actual severed body parts, copulation, and sacrilegious imagery.
