Proof that someone, somewhere will make an action figure out of anything: Porn star action figures (complete with dancer pole!), eminem action figures (complete with chainsaw?), and Jeffrey Dahmer. eek.
I want literary action figures. A 12" poseable Holden Caulfield perhaps(red hunting hat sold separately) or maybe a Hester Prynne with multiple snazzy aoutfits all emblazoned with the scarlet "A" of course. You can be kitschy and litzy-critzy all at once. w00t!
BTW, the picked the wrong porn star, they shoulda done a Danni Ashe(NSFW) doll, but they were prolly afraid they'd run out of plastic.

Okay, I have to say that I was indeed creeped out to go to this page, and to have Yahoo recognize my cookie and address me "Welcome, Alan" at the top, and right below to have the freaky image of John Wayne Gacy as Pogo the Clown.

I can't stand corn, but I still thought these were way cool when I saw them in a Tower Records this week. I can't believe I can't find them on the above site.

Maybe a company will find a way to scan someone and mold it into a doll. If it wasn't too expensive, kids could have Barbie and Ken dolls that look like Mommy and Daddy or themselves (as kids or as grownups?), dolls that look just like adult you (for a laugh or for self-worship), and of course voodoo dolls.

Here's one. Got an extra $400? I'd pay money for my own action figure with kung fu grip, but I'm not sure about $400.

pracowity: It's Me Dolls. And it seems the personal action figure market has been breached. Maybe. Or perhaps you'll want someone who seems more serious.
And traditional action figures of real people, e.g. movie actors, are done via technology now.

Another vendor. Same price range, with a superhero flavor.

the chainsaw for em - a) that was some magazine cover he did, and b) his lyrical talent: a chainsaw. there's a line from the new album that ends "there ain't nothing i can't take this chainsaw to."

yeah, folktrash, this model comes form a Source (site down for a "rebuild") cover-story featuring Eminem brandishing a chainsaw, in over-alls, covered in blood. The result of the chainsaw photo-shoot continues in the actual article within the magazine.
Because of the amount of "cred" he got for appearing on the cover of said magazine, the image stuck with his PR reps and fans.

No, but I don't think I'd lay out $4 for one of these things. I was just yakking. I'd like to read that Dahmer thing, though. The illustrations are mainly a waste, but the story looks good in a True Confessions, "I Was a Teenage Zombie Bride," cheesy sort of way.

Ed Gein's action figure is pretty cool, too. Eminen's is very well done and realistic. I would get both and make them fight each other.
"No Mr. Gein! Don't kill me and skin me and eat me!!"
"Who's scary now, kid?"

He's no celebrity, but as far as action figures go, there's only one object of lust for me. But I'm too old for that now. Really, I am.

Nope. McF tend to go more for the "slightly posable statue" look/feel when doing licensed characters; see the Movie Maniacs line, music figures, and anime figures. They say that getting them to look as much as possible like their source material takes precedence over play value here. With their original figures, though (the Spawn lines), they've recently begun adding tons of articulation. All in all, a pretty nice balance.

actually, I recently saw the jenna jameson figure in a underground movie rental place in Austin, tx. I asked the mid-twenties hipster woman behind the counter where they got it (I collect action figures and have thousands of dollars worth of them) and she refused to even talk to me about it. She literally treated me like a total slug for even asking. She just looked at me like she couldn't understand how anyone would admit to knowing who this porn star was. This from a liberated-looking college chick with facial piercings working a store that rents some pornography. I honestly have never been treated so rudely in a retail store.
Just thought I'd get that off my chest. The store was cool, but that woman sucked.
