So I stumbled upon this Britney Spears Auction at Yahoo (yeah, right, just like I stumble upon episodes of Dawson's Creek or 90210 - I swear I was just flipping channels!) and there's two notable things up for sale. This action figure/doll scares the bejesus out of me, there's something just plain wrong about a doll sporting a bare midriff, pigtails, and a short skirt (and did ya notice that she dots her "i" with heart? ugh.). Then this outfit from the Saturday Night Live episode is kinda creepy too, what on earth would someone do with her outfit? Put it up on the wall or let people rent it out for halloween?

I bought the outfit, and you don't want to know what I'm doing with it.

Can someone tell me why every single ad for these 'Fine Imported Pocelain Dolls' claims whoever made it is an 'award winning' artist. Whether its "Mummy I've Crapped My Pants" or "Johnny's first Wet Dream", every bloody one is 'Hand Crafted' by an award winning artist. Or maybe I'm just a sad, Franklin Mint ad reading wierdo.
Now, wheres that credit card.....

Ben, I'm pretty sure that's because it is.

Christ, when I was little I had a red satin hotpants & halter suit and a fluffy white fake fur jacket for my
Barbie doll and she still didn't look like she was
on The Walk.

A salon reader comes clean on the Britney Spears story:
The article about Britney Spears was a well-written, insightful piece; however it started with the flawed assumption that Spears is a human being. We here at Hangar 666 on the Disney back lot in Orlando are entirely responsible for Ms. Spears; indeed she is the finest piece of "entertainment programming in response to marketing" (tm OprahDisneyGates Inc.) we have built to date, though Ms. Aguilera and the assorted boy groups were none too shabby either.
