Holy crap. Between this and the cliffhanger for season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Melanie Scrofano is really leaning into the body horror thing. The thing that really got me--and made this sadly relevant--is how people don't really look at her.

writer/director of COLD here - chavenet, thank you for sharing this! I have all kinds of warm fuzzies (in opposition to the chilly dankness) when people resonate with this film. currently working on the feature-length adaptation. if you'd like to be updated on that and other work, scoot over here to sign up (am I allowed to include that here? mods please remove if no)

The “have you tried X?” followed by an apparent complete lack of interest in how X went (did it help? make things worse? apparently irrelevant!) felt extremely familiar to me, a 50 year old cis woman!

Well that's some good stuff right there. I mean, GAH BODY HORROR but, ya know, also good.
I'm having traumatic rage flashbacks to EVERY FUCKING MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL who EVER blew off my complaints.
And having been a partner to someone depressed to a point of nonfunctionality, I'm feeling for the husband, here.
Well done, lizifer!

I don’t want to threadsit but do want to share a story:
As we shot the doctor’s office scene with the wonderful Peter Keleghan, all of the female crew gathered around the monitor to trade stories of having their concerns dismissed by medical professionals. Even if I’d immediately dropped the hard drives into a lake when we wrapped, that moment of communal catharsis would have been worth it.
