Cheney casts his first tie breaking vote in the Senate.
Sorry about that - the word "senate" got in the way of the URL. Here's it again : http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010403/ts/congress_budget_dc_5.html

Since when does the President do that? I thought the Vice President did. Oh.
Good. let the Republicans commit policy suicide.

We'd best get used to these tie-breakers. With the 50-50 split, it's going to happen with nearly every major vote.

The scary thing is it never gets old. It's not that he's a Repubican, it's that he's just SO DAMN DOOFY.

Chaney seems to be on a roll tonight. Minutes after he cast his vote to approve the Bush Budget, he cast his second tie breaking vote to kill the Democratic plan to trim the $1.6 Trillion-10 year-Bush Tax cut plan.

I'd imagine that the Dems will try to have him running from the White House to the Capitol five times a day to cast those votes, just to see how well his ticker holds up.

Again, I ask, what's the Web site where the Vice President's vital signs and cholesterol numbers scroll along in real time?

It's funny to imagine Cheney huffing and puffing running to the Capitol.... I'm sure he has a limo to take him though...

When the Senate is in session, that's where the VP is. He isn't "running" from anywhere. I'm still not sure why Cheney doing his job is worthy of a MeFi post.

Apparently, though, noting that Cheney is "doing his job [of being irredeemably evil]*" is worthy of perpetuating the thread.
Aladfar is, I fear, correct. It's going to be rather fractious for a while with such a close split. And Strom Thurmond has already demonstrated that he is a deathless, wizened gnome who isn't going anywhere until the Rapture hits.
(*denotes slight editorial modification)
