Looks like it could be fun, but it will never see the marketplace with that kind of performance. As the article states, the "Hop Rod" was declared illegal in the '60s due to injuries, and that was a decidedly less litigious era. No insurance company would cover this product, imo.

however, the impact on robotics could be amazing...for example, how about robotic legs governmed by pogo principles?

wantwit, read the article -- that's the whole reason this was developed.

If indeed this is a pogo stick that could eventually autobalance, that would make a big difference in marketing opportunities.
