Coming to a tv near you: WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE - Couples edition. Thus proving 2 people can be stupider than one...
They did a couples version quite a while ago here in the UK, and it was sad to watch two people working together fail :)

Huh? The headline of the article you linked to answers your questions:
"ABC Presents Couples Edition Of "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" (5/15-5/18/01)"

danger: I think the wife/girlfriend always wins ;-)
I rather liked the Millionaire on Sunday and Monday here in the U.S. where they had on the people who bombed and won no money when they were previously in the hotseat.

...do the pre nuptial agreements get signed
1) before the game starts
2) during the game as the money increases
3) or when they take the money....
We had this here in the UK, and some of the couples were giving looks to each other that would put medusa to shame....

The UK one was truly hilarious. One couple got to £64k, and the wife had a hunch for the £125k question. The guy said they shouldn't risk it on a hunch, and when they bowed it, turned out her hunch had been right.
You could see the poor guy cringe, and just *knew* he'd be in for a right tongue-lashing when they got home...

I think it's just so brilliant the way they can make couples humiliate themselves like that in public. Too bad she didn't start off at him right away

The British version captured an interesting fragment of cultural history: the question of who looks after the money in a relationship. You could see a few professional "two bank accounts" types, but the funniest couples were those where the man obviously brought home the wages and let the wife pay the bills.
Especially since only one name went on the cheque.
