"The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs" is the first single of Wye Oak's fifth album. [SLYT]

From the band's website:
Louder is the third record that Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack, who launched Wye Oak in Baltimore, have made while living in separate cities — she in Durham, North Carolina, he in Marfa, Texas. They flew to one another for a week or so at a time, hunkering in home studios to sort through and combine their separate song sketches.

Merge Records will release "The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs" April 6, 2018. The band will tour the EU and USA.

A fine track. Still like their work on Shriek better, but that's a preternaturally good album, and these people do things I like a lot.

civilian was the first song of theirs I heard and was genuinely startling, it was so good.

shriek is also great, and they rarely disappoint in general. on first listen, this song is pretty lovely and a fine addition to the catalogue, but it'll probably just keep growing on me with repeated listens like much of their work.

as a native of Maryland it sort of bums me out I never saw them in their earlier touring days; I've heard they were both great and wonderfully kind and generous with their time for fans. maybe still true! I'll have to try to catch that show at the 9:30 club...

I read this as Shrek. And I was thinking, hmm that's an interesting soundtrack choice, was Smash Mouth busy?
