This tweet is one of the strangest things I've heard in some time. I have no idea how he tuned his cat, or why.

Yes! The question is not can one autotune a cat, but rather if one ought to tune a cat.

Someone set it to some chill beats.

And so the technocat-pop chill nano-genre was born.

I suddenly have a powerful craving to see and hear GLADOS' snark synced to cat vids.  Oh. It's you…

Wheatley would have to be the family dog of course.

That person does not appreciate the fascinating dreams the cat is recounting.

This is just how cats always sound, though. At least, it's how my cat always sounds…

strangely my cats reacted with more alacrity to an autotuned beastie than to regular cat videos--they're both cateenagers, so I suppose that's culturally appropriate?

I did not even realize how much I needed some help getting through the end of today, but here it is. We're all gonna make it!

Also: add my cat to the list of cats that were strangely attracted to this autotuned beast call, coming over from the other side of the house and desperately trying to divine its secrets, even when normal cat sounds barely get an eye opened or an ear perked.

My cats also ran in to see what the heck was going on with that video. My female cat, Lydia Gwilt, spent about thirty seconds frozen, staring at me, no doubt meditating on what to do about the unprecedented evil I had introduced to the house.

"I don't know how this helps but I did it anyway" is probably, like, the mantra of every human trying to cope with a "cats are weird" situation.

Yep, my cat perked up like I've rarely seen him do, and he looked...scandalized? Yet curious? It was quite a mix.

Also, I too am angry that it took us this long, as a species, to autotune our cats.

I started playing it on my phone for the hubs, turned around and both kitters had appeared out of nowhere. They were Quite Alarmed. They still think Scary Alien Cat is somewhere in that room. Sorry!!

It makes me giggle, but I'm not a cat.

Add me to the list of folks whose own kitties became alarmed and searching for the strange cat-like sounds emitting from my computer speakers.

My cat did not even wake up for this.

Mine, either. And the honk of a passing goose made his tail puff up yesterday.

My cat Menhit was all over me and the iPad when I played that video. Then she did what she always does when she's upset: something is wrong, the food ape is to blame, therefore bite the food ape.

(Reader: I'm good at anticipating her moods and getting out of the way of her teeth. Also, she wasn't trying to draw blood. Just to make me fix the wrong thing that was so very wrong.)

PS: if I was a sadist, I'd sample her own meow, autotune it, and loop it as my ringtone.

> Why remains a mystery however

The “I’ve been exposed to social media too long” cynic in me says it was to promote the app mentioned in the tweet.

My cats had an...interesting...reaction. Bearcat was startled and stood up like a prairie dog to look for the noise. Janeway puffed up to approximately the size of a raccoon, stared with quivering whiskers for about 10 seconds, and then hid under the table. Then I made the other human stop the scary noises before she imploded. I guess they aren't into alien demon cat music.
