15kg? Why is that a spook word? My cats weigh 15kg together. Oops, is the NSA gonna come and get my cats?

As everyone knows, only drug dealers and terrorists use the metric system.

15kg is a weight of welding wire. Why that's worthy of notice by the NSA, I'm not sure.

Perhaps if we ignore the government it and it's little creations (like the NSA, FBI, SS) will go away...

And come election time remember, don't vote, it only encourages 'em!

Um. Not to slam, but aren't spook words old news to anyone who's been on the internet longer than Bush has been president? Why the post now? Just curious.

15kg is widely considered to be the minimum amount of material for a decent nuclear bomb. Too little material will result in in dirty-bomb type explosions without the full process of a true nuclear detonation taking place. This being much less useful for someone wanted to cause extreme damage and/or radioactive contamination.

I wanted to post a link to an article here, but I could not find the thing... thought I had it bookmarked. At any rate, it discussed how 5kg of plutonium + 15kg of enriched uranium would allow a terrorist to create a bomb roughly equal to the two dropped on Japan by the United States.

Hi! I am a nerd who lives in Chelsea. I wear sneakers. I like beef. I visited the White House in eighth grade. Shout-out to my Chicago Posse!

...I'm expecting a knock any day now. : )

So when i'm sweeping the garbage out of the basement in my Armani

this translates that you are using counter-surveillance equipment to look for a Cheap Italian listening device in premises.

before i go to the market for beef, which i will prepare with a Ronco vegematic,

this means before leaving the scene, you replace the bug with a similar bug (only better) to fool Italian spies.

Speculating on whether Waihopai is Echelon gets the attention of Echelon users. Fascinating!

Are fissionable and quiche two separate items in the list, or are they looking for fissionable quiche?
posted by gimonca at 1:09 PM on September 25, 2003

fissionable quiche is a band name waiting to happen... anyone?

I've heard of spook words used as signature files in email, but not quite so much in meta tags, which is actually a big 'duh' for me. Nevertheless, I found these lists as fascinating as they seem silly.

Does anyone really have any hard evidence that Echelon tracks websites/email?

Yes, I have hard evidence here: < -post deleted->

Are meta tags still used? My understanding is that search engines stopped taking much notice of keywords in meta tags a long time ago and I would assume that any half-way intelligent spy agency would be working on basically the same technology.
