1. Pre-Hollywood Hitchcock is pretty spectacular (what, no "The Lady Vanishes", no "Sabotage"?)

2. So what you're saying is these movies are now public domain?

3. These downloads won't look like they were squeezed out the ass end of Utube via goolgeVideo via Larry's totally mediocre compression skills that managed to delete the first and last five minutes of the movie? That is, I'll be able to watch them at something approaching regular scale without feeling like someone is sand-papering my eyes?

I recently saw Jamaica Inn for the first time. It wasn't one of his better films and there were some awkward changes from the original material (apparently spurred by Laughton's push for a more important and less malevolent role). I would have liked to see it in a better version, but due to being PD it was one of the crappiest DVD transfers I've ever seen.

And because it's Hitchcock, it comes via a bird.

Of interest to British Hitch fans: new play version of The 39 Steps. Saw this in its pre-Broadway run here in Boston. It's kind of broad but still a lot of fun (and Hitch himself has a cameo).

That is better than cool, miss lynnster. That's spectacular. Even awesome, I might say.

Years ago when I was a book editor I got three books by the film historian Richard J. Anobile to review that included every frame from the classic films The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and Psycho.
The latter had about 1300 photos total, so 1000 is pretty complete.
