Parros Still Wins

Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller, back from vertigo, debuts his new mask in a tribute to Movember.
Movember is the month formerly known as November, where men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues. Men grow a Mo (moustache) for 30 days to become a walking, talking billboards, for our men’s health causes - specifically cancers affecting men.

Meant to include a link to this interview with Phoenix goaltender Jason Labarbera on his tribute mask to Pat Tillman.

I agree, orange pamplemouse. I was hoping for a mustache painted (or even a fake mustache attached to) his usual, bad ass matte-black goalie mask. Still good of him though. Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens has been wearing pink pads this year for breast cancer awareness. Although he recently switched back to his regular pads because the pink pads were jinxed or something. Goalies: weird even for hockey players

I like your title by the way, my first thought on seeing that mask was "But what about Parros?"

Might not be simply a superstition thing. I know goalies tend to like to wear white pads because they appear larger, and blend with the ice making it harder for a shooter to see an opening.

Huh. I knew Jeff Hackett had retired due to vertigo, but hadn't heard about Hiller. Probably confirmation bias, but I wonder if this is more common among goalies than other hockey players. I always liked Hackett's helmet when he was with the Bruins.

Did Derek Holland take a much-needed head start for Movember?

Just a note for Corey Perry: While I may have loudly called you names in the past, if you do decide to grow that exact moustache (and you should), I swear that I will totally not make fun of it, or call you Hitler Jr., or plot a crazy scheme that ends in a crazed Daniel Carcillo ripping it off of your stupid buttface face.
Secondary note to Ryan Getzlaf: the Fu-Manchu complements your receding hairline. Make it happen.

No, no, no, silly. Men grow mustaches, women grow... muffstaches!

Muffstache is quite possibly the best word I've ever made up (pats self on back).

Thanks to Movember I now associate mustaches with butt hair.

Totally, Orange Pamplemousse.
Big fat moustache on the mask would have increased awareness of Movember.
Anyone here with enough credentials to not be ignored by pro-athletes out of hand, be willing to push the Movember thing?

I don't know about other sports, but there are literally entire teams that do the Movember thing in the NHL. I don't know that you could increase the publicity, the announcers will be talking about it every game of the month. There's always one or two or a dozen guys skating who look ridiculous enough to call attention.

I think Holland is still paying tribute to Movember 2010.
Speaking of which, Parros (Princeton-educated enforcer and Locks of Love benefactor) kicked it off last year by shaving his formidable stache. It's so iconic, even the team's kids club kits come with a replica.
