The winner of Survivor II may have leaked... but CNN and other media won't report it. "Everyone wants to do it," one exec said, "it will just come down to who has the guts to do it first." Possible spoiler? Misinformation?

For the record: I am not a viewer of Survivor.

The sourcing for this leak ...

News of the show's climax was leaked by a number of Hollywood writers, reported to be outraged over Executive Producer Mark Burnett's decision to employ non-union staff members in the production of "Survivor II."

... is the same that was used for "Jesus," an embittered writer whose leak last week predicted the order of the final four contestants ousted, beginning with Colby last week.

Oops.

Please, if there is a god in the heavens, let this be leaked and spoil whatever dubious fun is supposed to be had from these shows. I prefer, sight unseen, whatever fresh hell will replace them.

Oh tiaka, you know Survivor: "Eye of the Tiger", etc.

Same thing happened with the British version of Popstars. 'August' paper the Sunday People printed the winners months before it happened, but after a quick call from the production team the article was later reported as 'speculation'. Roughly the same journey for the last winner of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionare'. Personally I hate to know. Spoils everything. What is Survivor anyway?

There have been lots of alleged leaks, most of them phony, about the outcome of Survivor. There is no particular reason to believe this particular one, since it already got last week's outcome wrong. Of course, the current leak has a one-in-three chance of being correct, and the scenario they give for getting from three contestants to one finalist is one of the more plausible and logical ones. But that is the point: just on pure speculation, I could make the same call that this alleged leak does.
Several of the Survivor fan sites (like SurvivorSucks) have people shifting obsessively through possible leaks and clues... some of them have come up with good guesses... but I don't think we can say that a leak has occurred which the mainstream media are deliberately ignoring.

Remember when the supposed winner of the first Survivor was leaked, and it turned out to be a bunch of crap and misinformation initiated by CBS itself? Lather, rinse, repeat.

The winner of a game show on another network is now considered to be news?

How far the mighty have fallen.

One interesting tidbit that no one has mentioned: the actual winner doesn't even know they've won. The final vote will be revealed live on Thursday.
