Weird covers for weird people

RAMMSTEIN - Amerika (WAY TOO AMERICAN Cover) This is what happens when it two Italian multi-instrumentalist musicians decide to cover big hits in often very unsuitable styles.

Either they are "way too" or "cyberpunk" and if you're looking for something nice and calming for a hot summer Sunday, why not acoustic versions of Metal songs?

:| first cover in the acoustic set, Zombieified, seems to be a rage against "cancel culture" in the US:

"
Oh no, they'll never let go
Of something you said yen years ago
They're canceling you, canceling you
"

As the US is in the process of "cancelling" abortion, trans, and voting rights, and we've just had another mass shooting rooted in explicit white supremacy, I don't find platforming the "cancel culture" meme to be in good taste.

Good thing Rammstein is known for plenty of good taste to save this post right?

That's an amazing cover of "Amerika." And when it shifts to spaghetti western!

Needs the egregious whip crack sound but otherwise, surprisingly solid. As in, holy crap, they might actually be able to play bluegrass!

Rammstein's quite consistently been anti-wat, anti-consumerism, left socialists. I'm comfortable with their depictions of sexuality and critiques violence.

Cool, I know most music past the mid-90's from mixup/mashup bits and blobs crossing the streams and all that. Weird covers are right up my alley.

Wow, that is a great cover.

(And I enjoy Rammstein, but 'good taste' makes me think about their recurring cannibalism thing? so I'm going to fall back to "I like their work.")

This is fun. Thanks!

While not actually related, Bigga Haitian's My Doorbell also springs to mind as a cover that works better than seems possible. I really thought there was a Dodo Hug RAMMSTEIN cover in another language, but I sure can't find it. If not, there should be. (I've probably already pitched Caballero Reynaldo too many times here recently.)
wat?
I'm sick of RAMMSTEIN's anti historical-Thai/Cambodian bias. =)

I actually don't know all that much about the band, and have no idea if they're bad people. I never noticed anything actually ugly in the songs I vaguely remember the lyrics to. I am, however, also willing to defend cannibalism that doesn't involve hurting people without their consent, so maybe my perspective is weird.

I, too, never knew about Rammstein's anti-WAT stance.

Is this where we talk about our favorite covers of Rammstein songs? Du hast/Du Host, as covered by the excellent klezmer band Dobranotch

Hey, if we're peeling off awesome Du Hast covers, Los Colorados did it best IMHO.

One must not forget Krampstein.
