One of the director's influences was Mikhail Kalatozov’s I Am Cuba.
This amazing long film sequence crane shot from that film is one of my favorites.

The long tracking shot, one of many is pretty damn good. The banlieues, so much there perhaps the long tracking shots suggest the length and depth of a world inside of world's, almost beyond regionalism or any specific cultural background.
