Iraq War Vet Critically Injured In Occupy Oakland Protest

Scott Olsen, an Iraq War vet, was critically injured in the OWS protest in Oakland last night. Witnesses allege Olsen was hit in the head by a tear gas canister fired by police. He ended up on the ground with a bleeding head wound.

As several protesters gathered around the injured vet, video suggests that a cop tossed either a flash grenade or a tear gas canister into the group. Olsen was taken by fellow protesters to Highland hospital, where he is in critical condition with a fractured skull and brain swelling.

Yeah, bringing in cops from out of town is a tried and true recipe for brutality since before Tienanmen.

Even more revolting is the sure knowledge that that police officer will face no punishment at all for his assault on an injured man and the people trying to help him.

Equally revolting is that if he wasn't a Marine with two tours of duty under his belt no one in the media would give a shit that some hippie protester got sent to the hospital.
