Apparently helmets weren't much of an issue. Right? Right.

One Got Fat. Macabre but darkly funny 1963 publc safety film in which ten children wearing disturbing monkey masks set off to cycle to the park for a picnic, but are eliminated one by one in horrible accidents for violating safety rules. Don't miss the steamroller.

"Slim knew that his big sack would be hard to handle." Okay, four minutes in and it's already a classic.

As featured in pretty much every IDM music video ever.

There is also a rifftrax shorts version over on their site which is pretty funny. Not that this video NEEDS extra commentary per-say...but still....the wife and I found it pretty hilarious.

What I don't get is why the one kid without a bike just doesn't take one of the dead kid's bikes? For that matter why didn't Slim? This movie makes no sense, yet is supposed to be educational.

Sounds like this will be gone soon, but I do want to point out that the first comment here and the first comment there ten years ago were the same. It's very comforting, somehow.

Poor unSane. Signaled, yet failed to look before accelerating.

To be fair, that post came out of fucking nowhere.

It is the great cycle of MetaFilter. Sooner or later, across uncounted aeons, all threads and comments will be repeated. It's like the Mayan calendar, only with more cat videos.

All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.
