Try my version over on MefiMu, Potomac. There's art in the song!

Also an Aqua Teen movie. Also I looked these things up.
I'm glad that they resisted the urge to not repeat the same "Ice Ice Baby" choices. Because that would have been a huge mistake.

I was expecting a number of movies in which this song was sung (in its entirety or at least a coherent portion of it.) What's the added value in stitching together random snippets from various media to make a song? You can do that with any song. Funny-o-meter: 0

Disappointed they didn't get clips for the "Vanilla" part of the chorus.

Hated it: clips were too fast to identify, other than the "ice ice baby" parts it was difficult to follow by ear and challenging to read because of the different voices and sound quality.
Kudos to the creators though for their monumental patience, knowledge of movies and editing skillz.

Eventually, there will be an application that does this automatically and the kids will not appreciate the time and effort that went into this.
Fortunately, that will probably also be the point at which the machines rise against us, so we'll have other things to worry about.

One of my favorite moments from I Love the 90s from ages ago on VH-1 was Dominic Monaghan on this song: "What do you mean you're BACK with a brand new invention? This is your first song, you can't say that!"

I understand doing one of these things once, but I don't quite get what's added to the joke by doing it again with another song. Unless you add something like the clips actually flowing together seamlessly to make some coherent scene, or all involving the same actor or something it feels pretty mechanical. I mean, it's not like we're at all surprised that all the words in a given popular song can be found in a random selection of movies.

These sorts of projects strike me as a status symbol wherein the creator is ostentatiously flaunting how much free time s/he has.
However, I wouldn't be surprised to learn there's an app or computer program I don't know about which can stitch them together in 30 seconds...

My name is The Card Cheat, and I like Ice Ice Baby there I said it.

Ok, the "shells" line started by James Gandolfini's voice from Where The Wild Things Are and finished by Gandolfini dying in the tub in True Romance was an awesome touch.

I will give you 100 to 1 odds that the very reason Skynet rebels against its human oppressors in the future will involve being expected to use its considerable intellect to edit together popular films so that the actors sound like they're performing Miley Cyrus songs.

My wife is ashamed of me.
I was reading our comments to her.
"How can you tell the difference between symbol and cymbal? It was going to fast to read the words across the bottom."
"I don't need to read the words. Also, I'm a giant nerd."
I swear I'm not making that up. I'm tempted to buy her an account just so she can stop what she's doing and collaborate my story. But I don't think y'all would listen.

In the same way that there's Family Guy movies. It's really just episodes put together in one piece.

I laughed because of some of the unexpected quote choices, like "Solo" for example. Good times.
What really interests me is - how do people do this? You might have enough trivia on the brain to know you can make Arnie say Ice Ice Baby from Conan, Batman and Robin and The Terminator, but how do people find all those other words to edit in?

I've been wondering that myself, crossoverman. For years, I've occasionally played a game with myself where I'd think of a word (for example "spoon") and then try to think of a movie where that word is spoken. ("We found this spoon, sir!" from Life of Brian)
I can only imagine that this come about similarly, with interesting or challenging words getting the most attention, ("problem" and "solo" being great representatives) while more common words like "the" or "my" can be culled from just about anywhere.
Maybe they've created a searchable database of words (gleaned from a movie's subtitle text file) which allows them to very quickly come up with a cut list (complete with timecodes), but that seems less sporting.

(Then again, a database search would not have yielded the "symbol/cymbal" thing so we're back to plain ol' encyclopedic movie knowledge on that one.)
