Oh shit, fucking awesome! Love me Russiona Lullaby and Shady Grove. Great post. Thanks y2karl!

There was a whole thread on country music, but to me this is roots music.

Garcia and Grisman also collaborated on the album I played for my kids every night at bedtime. Not for Kids Only. Here is Ain't No Bugs on Me from that album.

"Hey, you're only one fret away from the right note at any moment, and there I was, what can I tell you." — David Grisman, take 3 of Shady Grove from The Pizza Tapes. Words to live by.

The next 10 days or so isn't going to be tough enough to get through, so thanks for this. It gives me a theme to carry me through ( at least ) the weekend.

"Hey, you're only one fret away from the right note at any moment..."

A *perfect* summation of the musical career of Jerry Garcia!

Don't get me wrong, though. Love ol' Jerry, yes I do, bum notes and all...

Shady Grove is a great album. In my collection, it is one of the few that is always played through. It is some fine porch-sitting music. I've wasted many a Sunday afternoons sitting on a porch which this album playing in the background.

Dios, I would not consider such a Sunday afternoon wasted in any sense.
