I thought this would be about another big-eyed Edith.
(Can I just confess that I've always been very, very happy that there once existed a person whose name sincerely and truly was "Edith Head"?)

That is one thin premise for a web site.

Edith with Googly Eyes is the only good thing about Downton Abbey at this point (Gawker copies some of the images from the Tumblr, in case you want to peek at the site but can't at the moment - I can't vouch for the statement, as I haven't seen any of season 3 yet).

Edith's the one likeable-but-not-insufferable character upstairs, not counting the Dowager. Googly eyes suit her, though. This is probably how Fellowes sees her in his head.

Season 3 was terrible, I think. Two wasn't very good, either. I've only seen the first two episodes of four, but it seems to me to be an improvement.

I suppose this person will get a book deal too.
I would like to see a survey of memes or Tumblrs-turned-books, plotting the rise (and fall?) of this phenomena, possibly plotted along with the trend of focused tumblrs and meme sites.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine silly memes stamping on the human soul - forever.

Men are always interested in Mary because they view her sour attitude as something they can tameYessss! In college my best friend was a "Lady Mary" and the succession of, ahem, suitors who thought that underneath her sour exterior there was a cute little princess waiting to get out were annoying.
Came for the googly-eyed ediths, stayed for the insightful character insights.

Well, that and she's stunning with presence to burn.

Well yes. If she was sour and plain, men would view her sour attitude as evidence that she's ugly on the inside and the outside.

The Wikipedia page on googly eyes.
"A clear, hard-plastic shell, with a smaller, black plastic disk trapped within"
Coincidentally, this is also an adequate metaphor for most of the characters on Downton Abbey.

I don't watch Downton, but a friend of mine said that my sense of style reminds him of Edith. Judging by this website, I'm pretty sure that goes under the heading of "compliment or no?"

Having your style compared to a character on Downton is never an insult! Edith's the "plain" middle daughter - it's mostly her personality - but she still dresses beautifully. I'd call her style unassumingly elegant.

Of course, Archie McPhee's is selling Giant Googly Eyes for your IRL use, and they have reported on two people who gave their cars Googly Eye Headlights. Certainly, this is the RIGHT way to give faces to cars.

Yay, ND¢'s back!
I should buy some big googly eyes from Archie McPhee's for my spouse's car. It's a Miata, and it's so obviously got a happy face on the front, the designers must have done it intentionally.
