Since 2010, Freelance Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary has been tweeting photos with the hashtags #AfghanistanYouNeverSee and #EveryDayLifeInAghanistan showing sides of the country that rarely make it into Western media.
The photos range from jaw-droppingly beautiful, to quietly delightful, to colourful, to inspirational, to familiar, to very, very cold

thanks for this. I know nothing of this country that we've been at war in half my life, except that it's dusty? this is really great.

Thanks for this post. Some really great pictures, and I really like the #EverydayLifeInAfghanistan feed and wouldn't have found it otherwise. I can't stop looking at this portrait, it's stunning.

I'm a little confused by the "college entrance exam" picture (which pictures students sitting in a snowy field taking a test. What college is this? What is attending classes like?
