Made this and sampled it (sped up, drum&bass / breakcore) to use in my music production today (not kidding, just dropped the wav into ableton)

It's a good thing this doesn't have a tempo setting because I'd be going freak nasty with this instead of getting work done

The one thing I wish it did is highlight which letters are playing at any given time. Because I'm having a hard time figuring out what's playing when in “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”

srsly srsly srsly why is there no save, every single one of these is better than anything it would take me six hours to purposely make in a sequencer.

Okay, this is more of an actual beat:

ockc ckcgckc ckcockc ckctqtctqtc

I just spent three digits on a copy of Reason and yet I can't stop playing with this fucking thing. I want tempo controls. Maybe just...set tempo based on any numbers that show up before the first alphabetic character?

Sound-emitting javascript on iPhones requires some sort of specific buy-in from the user, as I understand it, before sound will actually come out; some sort of anti-fuckery measure from Apple, I think. There are presumably a variety of ways to work that out, but when I ran into it when I was as a total JS neophyte making Endless Jingling, I didn't quite grok those methods and so went with "sorry, iPhone users" as my approach at the time as well.

re: tempo, - seems to slow the beat down, though + doesn't appear to have the opposite effect.

Ooh, poking around in the source code, it turns out there's support for triplets, by including the triplet-length (notes inside of parentheses (which are ignored, not treated as time-filling whitespace or punctuation), e.g.

c c (c dc d)

Unfortunately, the timing doesn't seem to be quite right on them; haven't looked through the code enough to guess why, but it sounds to me like it might be triggering the first triplet beat after a non-triplet a triplet-length note's duration instead of a full non-triplet duration. But that's just a shot in the dark.

I sent one through a guitar pedal, dropped it into Maschine, and went into a slow dub freakout with Tantra and Turnado.

First try wasn't great, but as a proof of concept it works...

Here's my simple little 4 bar thing. You definitely want to play around with spaces or other non-used characters for rests. I wish there was a way to play two samples in one slot — anybody figure out if that's possible?

Haha amazing taste in sound toys, I just bought the full Sugar Bundle AND Turnado a few days ago because I am gearing up to do a VR robot cyberpunk musical film about malfunctioning androids who re-discover the long-banned practice of music (UGGGGHHHHHHHHH KILL MEEEEEEEE why do I do these things) and my goal is to invent the entire soundscape by accident

My first wish was that each newline played in parallel. So that something like
pplp
p[space space space]
p[space]ll
would be a 4/4 bar with a massive kick on the first beat. That would probably be nightmarish to implement though.
