Monday Punday - try to figure out the pun illustrated in the cartoon. No scoring. No prizes. And no "I don't get it, tell me" button. (Hint: If you can't figure out the first three, don't torture yourself further.)
And no points for complaining about the "Microsoft Paint"-style art. It just goes along with "puns are the lowest form of wit".

Taz, #1 is obvious. I guarantee you're overthinking it.

Argh, you're so right! Okay, got it. I was also overthinking #4, which going from the title tag clue, I first guessed "Sela Ward." I think the artist missed a chance there!

Tripledale Flowerneck! That's a neighborhood in Brooklyn, I think.

Yeah, #1 is pretty simple. Kind of what I'd expect from a 5th grader.

To be fair, #4 was easier for me than the first three. I do object that my guess for #129 was not acceptable, but maybe my humor runs in a different direction.

I got 1, 4, and 5 so easily that it seems I must be desperately overthinking 2 and 3.
I'm stumped on today's (267) though also. In conclusion, Monday Punday is a land of contrasts.

I got #1, my tentative guess for #3 was right, and I chuckled as I nailed #4. But #2 has me stumped. Inca barber? Aztec hairdresser? Easter Island head dresser?

2 and 3 are U.S. cultural references. If you don't do that you won't get them.

Generally I object when people dismiss puns as "the lowest form of humor", but I have to admin that these certainly deserve that reputation. I was going to say "fit the bill", but that probably has an entry on this site as well.

Ok, I've got 2 and 3 now. 3 is a little obscure if only because the cultural reference in question hasn't been super prolific lately.
2 I had to cheat on because it involved a type of culture that I'm just not into at all.

And I had to walk away for a bit and come back to figure out 267 as well. Everyone of these that I solve makes me feel a little rush of anger after I get it. I'm not sure whether I enjoy that adrenaline hit or not so I will keep solving those until I figure it out.

Wow I'm bad at these. A few I got right away but those seemed pretty simple. Some just don't even look like pictures anymore if I look very long. And then some I understand but I don't 'get' like #6. I know what that number is, but then what? The only reason I know that is because I'm a math nerd. Do I have to be that big of [other thing] nerd to get the others?

Yeah, #2. I know what all the parts are, but no combination of the words makes any sense to me and the 'hint' in the link text does nothing for me. That's how most of these are going for me.

#2 has a fairly specific cultural context and if you're not familiar with it you're going to be completely lost.
(Meanwhile, I'm still stumped on #1.)

Thanks and good lord lock sock and barrel. I googled your hint plus the words I had worked out. I had it exactly right (right words in the right order) but I'd never heard of the answer before so it just didn't mean anything to me. I'd just try typing stuff in and checking, but too many tries are not fun on my phone and it's blocked on my work computer. Maybe I have other ones right but I just don't know. I think it's time to stop banging my head against these.
I have no idea where to start on #1 either kmz.

I got them with your hints. Yeah these just aren't my thing. #6 I was saying to myself over and over (with a few extra words) just not making the connection. It's weird that I make dumb jokes like this all the time but I have trouble figuring them out in reverse.

I know, right, Clinging?! Keep the faith; some of them are tough and I still have yet to figure them out, but then I've solved others in a few seconds or less.

(And I really thought my first real guess of "bodice ripper" would be right.)

You don't need to be steeped in American culture to get #3 considering the answer is British.

I have gotten some of these, but not the chipmunks one. I definitely feel that little rush of anger when I see that "Correct" message. I think I should stop.
(but the chipmunk one is going to keep me awake tonight. I just know it. GAH.)

If you're talking about the latest one (267), that's specifically a Disney character whose name is required to finish the pun. Think of the 3 chipmunks as a left-to-right sequence of that character, and note the most visible change (not the animal's pose). Once you get it you can go shopping to reward yourself.

As an inveterate punster, my personal pride has compelled me to commit to working my way through every one of these damn things. So far I'm about 2/3 of the way through, with an 80% success rate. Once I'm done, I'm going back to revisit the ones I didn't get immediately. don't judge me

So far, other than the most recent, I've solved 2-8; still haven't figured out number one. For solvers: some answers are names; earlier puzzles sometimes give a bit of a clue in the title tag you can see on mouseover.
