Oooh! When Billie Beat Bobby! I haven't seen that since it first aired. Definitely adding that to the list. Thanks!

Is there an easy way to filter this to Canadian Netflix?

Find the half you're least interested in. Those ones will be on our Netflix.

Guinevere directed by Audrey Wells

I'd like to recommend this one. Funny and thoughtful.

Try Susanne Bier's After the Wedding, she also directed the best foreign film Oscar winning' In a Better World' and the recent and much lauded Night Manager series for the BBC. AtW has Mads Mikkelsen and everything.

I figure out a way to use the audio player on my iPhone to listen to Netflix while the phone is usable for other things (reading, gaming on mute, reading Metafilter). If I work my way through these movies that way does it count on their "watched" count?

This is awesome! I'm totally going to use this list to branch out and see some stuff I never would have seen otherwise! Or I might just rewatch Clueless five or six times with Bride and Prejudice mixed in there a couple times. Probably the second thing.

Just watched The Voices by Marjane Satrapi on CDN Netflix. There's talking animals. It's violent and disturbing. Nice closing credits.

Watching more movies directed by women is definitely good for you, and I guess it could technically be said to combat gender discrimination in Hollywood, though I don't know if anyone is slicing and dicing Netflix viewership trends with that granularity. Something that is probably better is getting out and paying hard cash to see movies directed by women in theaters, so if a theater near you is playing The Invitation by Karyn Kusama, you might give some extra consideration to seeing that. You can also follow women like the especially vocal @Lexialex [previously] on Twitter in hopes that joining her burgeoning social media army will help convince sexist Hollywood assholes to give her more jobs directing action for TV and movies.

Also, fwiw, Money Monster just came out and was directed by Jodie Foster. (Yep, that Jodie Foster.) If you're looking to vote with your dollars, I imagine a lot of folks in Hollywood will be looking to see how it does on its opening weekend.
