Don't let the minute spoil the hour. Ted Joans Lives!
This is what MetaFilter and the Web are truly for. . . How true, how true. Thanks for the link.
and yet, when we see a name we haven't really heard of, we don't click. . . Well, we could. We might even learn something.
Quite a weird little race, the human. . . One weird thing: people who wait till somebody dies, and then start proclaiming that "he lives." It seems, in a way, like they "doth protest too much." If somebody really did live (i.e. remained with us in spirit), you wouldn't have to go around shouting about it. On the other hand (to stay down here in Clicheland), "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."
p.s. Actually, Bird took terrible care of himself and is now dead. Sonny Rollins (who I much prefer) lives.

This is what MetaFilter and the Web are truly for and yet, when we see a name we haven't really heard of, we don't click. Then we complain about posts that are always about the familiar. Quite a weird little race, the human.
