Don't blame the technology. A refreshingly reasonable piece from a mainstream newspaper breaking down people's fear of technology as a springboard for outright condemnation of that technology when it's used for bad things.

It should be noted that this article is also a defense of Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin who has been smeared by the Conservative Party, an act in which much of the local Toronto media is complicit thanks to misleading headlines.

Not willing to compromise the rights of millions to prosecute a few child molesters is not the same as supporting those child molesters. I guess Steven Harper has learned more than social conservatism from George W. Bush; apparently false dichotomies are up for grabs too.

Very true, very true; fortunately the Canadian public tends to be somewhat reasonable, and didn't react too well to the whole "Paul Martin supports child pron" schtick.

Incidentally, the whole technology-to-blame notion was touched upon by Matt in his Shoot people but don't share files with them post yesterday.
