Die Wunderkammer. Fancy buying a stuffed miniature Collie, or a fossil poo? How about "a miniature perfume library with, among others, the scents of human breast milk, chocolate, swampwater and sex"? This Australian store has all these and more. If you're not Down Under then browse through the Web Wunderkammer, an online wonder-cabinet which archives more modern but equally weird things such as a Jesus Leaf, robot jellyfish and square-dancing chipmunks. Or you could always check out eBay. (a follow-up of sorts on this thread).
i guess it's because they're not an online store, the site is just an advertisement for their real store in melbourne. hopefully i can check it out sometime this week. i want to see the fossil poos and perfume library (how do you bottle the scent of sex??)

Ha. When this store opened I spent a lot of time in there with Heather and Igor , the proprietors (it was conveniently located near a watering hole of mine). I like this shit. And wessatong, the smells are just bizarre. Evocative of something but you can never quite put your finger on it. Let me know if you wanna go and I'll take you there. email's in profile

This is yet another excuse to go to Australia. I've always wanted to decorate my house like a natural history museum.
Thanks for the link!

Great stuff, wessatong - thanks for the links. Also, thanks for the link to that post by carter which is also terrific, but I somehow missed it first time around.

This shop reminds me of Paxton Gate in San Francisco. They sell some items by mail order but their website doesn't shaw a fraction of the store's vast selection. On that note, can anyone recommend similar shops in other cities?

*laugh* this is fantastic. The owner of the Melbourne store is my wife. I liked it so much when I went in there, I married the proprietor. For real.

Neat stuff and a very cool post! Though I'm not sure why they couldn't have gone into a little more detail and depth with the site. Just a single image and page behind each of the front page links or am I missing something?
