The first flash animation was inspiring because I know I can do better than that.

From Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music (discussed here) :
Ghetto Tech will be the natural law of the new world order. God himself will come down, declare his kingdom on earth, and inscribe on two tablets for all the hoes to shake their multitude of titties. and it will be good.

Can't say I thought too much of these myself. The first one seems like what Wesley Willis would have sounded like if he were trying to be Wesley Willis.
The second one reminds me of Azz & Tittiez by Three 6 Mafia, except Azz & Tittiez is about ten times better. Ask yo moms.

Certainly. But for a disturbingly large portion of record store owners outside the midwest, they're interchangeable. Or they've never heard anything from Detroit but DJ Assault, or something.

I lament that I am in a shared hotel room with no headphones. I would like to be punished with this Detroit techno you all speak of.
I look at electronic music in a certain way - each style can correspond to a language. House and Trance are forms of English - repetitive but occasionally lulling. Drum n Bass is like screaming in German, or occasionally Klingon. PsyTrance is like Swedish with an accent, and the style of music I actually like is Japanese. I don't actually like any Japanese bands, but the style I like is that which corresponds. Maybe Aphex Twin is closest.

This is not Detroit techno. The end.
(I had a brief flirtation with Ghettotech thanks to a Muzik article about the phenom. I can still put on Straight Up Detroit Shit and get most of the way through it before declaring it to be the most truthful title ever put on a record.)

empath : "It's either called Booty House or Ghetto Techno."
...or Ghettotech.
When referring to genre names, the word "either" should probably be avoided, because there's always another name, especially with techno.

Heh. Being from around Detroit, this is pretty old. But still kinda fun. I like the nihilism that ghettotech has. Ass and Titties? Yeah, let's just repeat that. It is the most present and self-evident music that exists.
