Sudoku Combat

Sudoku Combat. Sudoku, head to head style. The stress mounts as your challenger's board blinks and fills. Bring it on.
Wait till the cheaters login and run their soduku solvers against it though...

zeoslap, it looks like there's really no ownership of player names (anyone can take anyone else's name), so there's not much incentive to cheat.

What's with the sudden popularity of sudoku? I don't remember hearing or thinking about a few years ago now it's like it's everywhere. Is my impression correct or am I on crack?
Also I find the game incredibly boring. Like if someone tried to come up with the most boring game imaginable I think they would end up with something like sudoku.

oog: It's not just on your end. It worked for me fine at first, but I closed the window, and when I tried again just now, I got the plesk desk thing.

I have to say, I dislike that the opponent can see which square you have filled in. It happened several times: I filled in a square, then another, then four or five more...less than 5 seconds later the opponent fills in the same squares in the same order.

Grrrr... every time I get ahead of an opponent they bail out. Goddammit.
Excellent idea to add multiplayerness. I think it could probably be implemeted a little better, but top marks for the concept.

what popkinson said. I was on about 12 squares filled to my opponent's 3 and he bailed. weak.

I just spent the past hour playing a whole slew of folks, whole games all. lost some, won some. thank you very, very much for this link.
less than 5 seconds later the opponent fills in the same squares in the same order.
I use the same technique almost every time, and I'll bet a whole ton of other sudoku players start games exactly the same way. uh, okay, any easy 1's? 2's?...

I keep playing against people who rush through the game, then realize they screwed up somewhere and quit. Frustrating.

It won't let me type in any of the squares. Might be a Safari thing.

I got a book of "Advanced" suduko puzzles last Christmas. It takes me weeks to get through one. I thought I would do okay at the races on the easy setting. Nope.

The speed game is different than the mind game wobh. I think that when you're playing head to head, you have to get into a flow and instantly know what the row or box is missing. It doesn't have the finess that the advanced games have.
