Thirty Dollars. YouTube.
This post was deleted for the following reason: this sucks
You're losing me Metafilter. If you're just gonna be a bunch of links to YouTube videos, with no commentary, I'm just gonna change my bookmark to YouTube.

Don't blame Metafilter, Osmanthus—yeti percieves correctly that this is no mere post, no run-of-the-mill display of a priori quality linkage, but a peek behind the veil, a long and frightening glimpse into the very nexus of fate and the inner minds of the gods of all digital realms.
It's not a Metafilter post, to be judged as representative or indicative—it is The Metafilter Post, the outlier, the Kwisatz Haderach. The sleeper has awakened!

Can't watch YouTube at work. Many cannot. Must wait 8 hours before investigating. Would prefer to see some commentary. Definite articles missing again; suspect delmoi.

I must wait ten hours before investigating, and there are some plusses to MeFi being used as YouTube Filter. I get to click on the highlights without having to trudge through the muck that is in there. For every YouTube vid that's Blue-Worthy? There's hundreds that aren't.

I think a separate YouTube filter would be more appropriate for these posts. Otherwise, noise....

Cortex rules, but even witty over-the-top justifications can't save this terrible post...
...OR CAN THEY!!!

Not loading. Vote for deletion/separate youtubefilter or something.
Ascii animation = clever
Video stream = a low quality TV on my computer screen!
It's not that I am unable to appreciate a good video link, it's just such a low effort post. Would have been better on mofi/mecha or elsewhere IMHO.
Still, Sambo (the Russian martial art) was new to me and of some interest.

See, here's why it's funny:
There's a contest on metafilter where the best post of the day wins $30. Meanwhile, some idiots on youtube make a russian roulette video where the winner wins thirty dollars. So, it's like the same thing.
It's like synchronicity, or irony, or a denouement or one of those other words that people use all the time but don't really know what they mean exactly.
It could be sardonic. Who knows?

i don't know about that. As I haven't seen the clip I cannot comment.

See, I got it. I laughed. Cortex spends all day making me laugh. I like laughter. I love lamp.
But as an FPP, this should be taken out behind the barn and put out of its misery.

You mean posts about Theodor Adorno, art theory, Paul Tillich, number theory, postmodern critiques of Philip Glass, feminist architecture, and who really wrote Bach's Toccatta and Fuge in D Minor. Yeah, I miss those too. Seriously. What?
But have no fear. It's just the silly season. Things will pick up around here when the grad students return to school from their roadtrips following Radiohead around the country or whatever.

Wow, cortex. What a brilliant fucking commentary on the contest for August. What I want to know is who's going to clean off the wall after all the shit people have thrown up against it to see what sticks.

Well, I hate to be a moderate voice in my own questionable commentary, but I've kind of enjoyed the whole August spectacle as a gestalt. Some of the stuff has been pretty meh, and there's been a lot of Trying Hard, but there's been a lot of posts that were either great or stupid-fun or both. So I'm not really trying to be scathing so much as a little wry.
And, to be clear, I laughed out loud at the linked video. I don't plan on posting YouTube links on a regular basis, but I don't plan on ever just mercilessly crapping on the front page.
