Gelatinous red semi-immensity

I think we all know what this "squoctopus" thing should be named. After vigintillions of years baby Cthulhu is loose again, and ravening for delight.

“Cthulhu” is a good choice, but “Reginald” has a bit more pizazz.

reginald sounds like that guy in the grey poupon ad ... "pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?"

now cthulhu is like a totally different thing ... "stop there, mortal ... i will now cut open your skull with my beak and suck your brains out with my tentacles and you can KEEP your stupid gray poupon"

Dammit, now I've lost 1d10 SAN. This is why I don't read the articles.

Should I, for one, welcome our new gelatinous red semi-immensity overlords - or should I just let this opportunity pass me by?

Given the instinctive reactions of many people here, I think "squicktopus" is a bit more accurate.

You know what would be awesome? SquidFilter. It would be my favoritest website/squid link aggregator ever.

The inevitable relationship questions on AskSquidFilter would be a little awkward though.

I guess this critter lacked the two capturing arms that proper squids have? I am always in favor of cephalopod posts.

"Dr. Johnson?"

"Yes?"

"Can you please bring me the tissue samples from The Watcher In The Dark That Must Not Be Named?"

"Right away, sir, just as soon as I complete the data on The Goatmother Beast With 10,000 Restless Young."

Aghh! I find I'm terrified because this thread is like having to read The Atrocity Archives all over again!

Make a squidoo lens on that thing and the universe will implode.

I like "Squoctopus", but more importantly, how does it taste?

As I start thinking about tentacles the last thing I want to (mis)read is "vigintillion." I'm so creeped out.

But that picture of the octosquid is CUTE.
