I will be studying this in the hopes of finally winning an internet chess game without enduring the astounding humiliation from my opponent (you know who you are). Thanks!

Oh man. I find their accents hilarious, even though I know that I have a hilarious New Zealand accent in any language. And this makes me feel small and ungenerous, since Igor and Gleb are kindly teaching me chess. I am giggling, hating myself and learning chess all at once.

For a 1 minute game, I have never seen people playing so slowly.

I love them narrating the game. Chess is usually so silent.

I have always regretted not learning how to play this game.
And now I shall walk around all day weirding people out by saying, "I take you! I do not wish to take you!" in a slavic accent. Good times.

These guys are great. I've been slogging through the wikibook on chess openings every time I see something new—this is no replacement, but waaaay better anyhow.
Some MeFites are playing over at Red Hot Pawn. If anyone's up for an ego boost, I usually lose in <30 moves.

I play a ton of one minute chess over at FICS under the name DietDew if anyone's interested. I'm generally rated about 1650. I recommend the BabasChess interface for those who want to play blitz or lightning.

Holy crap, I just looked into it and I have played over 13,000 lightning games at FICS since the late 90s.

the 2nd or 3rd check with the white queen... couldn't the black pawn have taken the queen ?

In the Learn link? After 16. Qxg6+ (when White has about 22 seconds left) Black can't take f7xg6 because of the Bishop on d5- Black's King would be in check.
