Sonnets: To Metafilter
I started cranking out this Front Page Post
in poesy pioneered by Petrarch and
by Billy Shakes, tightened by Emily,
succumbed to cummings -- Their Words, their Will – Grand!
But of this FPP: "Hey, Where's the meat?"
(Weak links on MeFi conjure Peller's Rage
Amongst the MeFites -- Wait! I've found a treat!)
Iambic Pen-tuh-MEE-tur's wiki page!
And what's a post without youtubery?
Ah! here's a "Sonnet" that's Not Safe For Work.
But, lest I be accused of wankery:
Sev Snape's Sonnet. (Maybe he's not a jerk.)
And Now I'm Donne. I've sonnetized the Blue;
I'd love to read your comments. No Haiku!!

This post was deleted for the following reason: while sonnets are great and all, you may have spent too much time on the phrasing and not enough time on the NEAT STUFF YOU FOUND ON THE WEB part. Might want to think about that and try it again? Seriously. I am serious. -- jessamyn
Thank you for not phrasing that in a haiku.

I really hope this doesn't get deleted, but only because I imagine this took a long time and it would make me sad if all the energy was wasted.

Broken hearted..."

Are you drunk?
I'm thinking this sounds more like a fat line and a bong hit, myself.

My two minute sonnet:
The tragic waste of precious time
Which I am taking here tonight
To pen a useless piece of rhyme
When I could be setting things aright.
Sonnet, schmotte, a real damn waste.
Poetry has a greater reason.
We can quibble 'bout readers' taste
Or we can debate till the end of the season.
Frost says free verse lacks a net.
I say fuck him, say what you want.
He has a point, I guess,but yet,
I think it's like debating 'bout a font.
In the end, poetry should be deep:
More than blogging, less than sleep.

I hate to pile, lest towers teeter,
But several lines are lacking meter.
