Yo mama’s so old, she refers to Century as Futura.

OK, that was worth the two minutes of groaners and i-don't-get-it's.

The best of Metafilter Typography.

The HTMLed smiley face on the Metatalk banner is the best.

Wow, these are bad. But what's the orange x green one? Do I not get it, or is it not funny?

Yes, I'm aware that both might be the case.
posted by echo target at 8:33 AM on September 18, 2008

It's an optical illusion. Stare at the x and let it go through a couple of cycles. Note the apparent color of the outlined versions in your periphery.

I think I'd have found this more amusing if they'd filled it with Lorem Ipsum instead.

I first read that as Typographhunnies.

I read it as Typograbunnies and I was expecting to see rabbits doing typesetting. Or perhaps rabbits being used as typesetting.

I'm not sure if I'm relived or a little disappointed.

What the Helvetica?

No Arial the Little Mermaid?

No Seattle/Tahoma?

No Trajan Horse?

No "We can't stop here. This is dingbat country"?
(and have they officially renamed the Impact font LOLCAT yet?)

No Bauhaus Party?

No Gotham City?
(come on... Obama Batman jokes... they're so easy...)

No Life, the Univers and Everything?

No Georgia on My Mind?

wait... there's a "submit a font joke" box... bwahahahahaha!!!

My favorite font pun is actually the name of a font: Cry Uncial.

Thanks wendell, some of these are really sweet, but some... oh some of them make you wonder what kind of sick, evil, mentally deranged artist would contort little bunny bodies into these horrible shapes, just to make a letter.

Like "J".

Madness.

The green/orange one was awesome! I didn't read the thread, but I kinda suspected the outcome because it reminded me of REM's Green album cover, which was bright orange (you stare at it and then see green spots everywhere else you look). This website warms my U + 2665
