I had no idea Serafinowicz was such a good mimic. I'd watched the Mos Eisley spaceport video earlier, not knowing that it was he who had done the line, and was racking my brain as to when Alec Guiness had ever uttered the words "fucking shithole" on camera.
I guessed it was off-camera commentary about Return of the Jedi, personally.

Having watched the entire Peter Serafinowicz Show a year or so ago, I am eager to see anything the guy does. Honestly, I doubt I ever laughed as hard in recent years as I did at his show... talented fella, and part of the brains behind the BRILLIANT "Look Around You" series...(Which I discovered here on Metafilter!)

Is there a linguist or a speech therapist or something in the house who can explain why that works so well?

My reaction to him is: very good mimic, not funny. His Beatles Get Back-era bit is most impressive, but, again, not funny.

I stopped at the Brando impersonation. Let me guess, he also does an excellent Schwarzenegger.

You stopped before the joke started. The impression not being anything super special is part of it.

I'll be the nerd who points out Mr. Serafinowicz voiced Darth Maul in "The Phantom Menace" (and Darth Chef in "South Park").

...and I'll add some geek by pointing out that he was that very deep voiced bloke in Black Books who on the phone with Fran and he gave her...
Also can be found hanging around many Simon Pegg projects, since they are mates and all that.

That is about the funniest thing I have seen in a while. I loved his "shreds" videos, and this just takes it to the next level, like Buffalax meets Legion of Rock Stars.
