I found these FUTURE JOES

I found these FUTURE JOES (GI Joe 2010 series) while following a link from Rebecca Blood's site for the Navajo Code Talker GI Joes. Perhaps it's showing my age, but I really want one. Of course, I also want some of the Nisei soldiers so that I can reenact those POW camp scenarios that I used to subject my GI Joe to as a kid. I know where the bodies are buried. Hey, how come The Grim Reaper Site didn't have questions about GI Joe? Was your GI Joe a) home on leave when you were concieved b) 12" c) 12" with lifelike hair and beard and realistic scar d) 12" with Kung Fu Grip e) really an Action Man f) a little pussy 3" action figure g) $50 and from the "Collectible Collection"? h) dolls are for girls.

12" with lifelike hair and beard and realistic scar. I also had the British version, 'Action Man'.

I wonder if I was the only girl to play with GI Joe.

For a brief period in 5-6th grades, I played with weenie little 3" GI Joes. There were definitely "doll issues" when I played with them, but what really stopped me from GI Joe was my neighbor and friend getting *way* too into it. He suddenly became an avid reader of WWII history, started wearing a beret, talked about "The Shit in 'Nam", and became engrossed in military cryptography and code-breaking lore.

I was like 11, and seeing a friend suddenly become a war monger was a bit much. He's probably a producer on the Hitler Channel...I mean History Channel now...

12", plastic hair, had the frogman and spaceman stuff. Yes, I'm that old.

Plastic hair means you may even be older than me... Not by much probably, but most of my Joes had that fuzzy stuff...

Yeah, I remember having just grown out of them and then seeing the Joes with fuzzy hair, thinking it was very strange. Every time I pass the Joes at ToysRUs I get a wave of nostalgia, helped by the snapshots and 8mm film that my parents took of that era. Oh, I'm 39. Waaay old.

My british one has plastic hair, the two american ones have fuzzy hair.

And I was really jealous of my cousin's doll cause it could talk, and he had the tank and car too. Little spoilt bastard. ;-)

Guess what, I still have it all, the little bed, the frogman suit, the deepsea diver suit, everything.

"I'm Old. Gimmee Gimmee Gimmee!"</grandpa simpson>

austinspace: Yup, that'd have been my guess. At 35, I transitioned in just as the fuzzyheads were becoming available. During the time you had Joes, I'd have still been playing with my Major Matt Mason (with space station and lunar walker!)...
