With the 25th anniversary of the Super Bowl Shuffle rapidly approaching, perhaps the time has come to take a look at its inimitable legacy - one of state-of-the-art video editing, fluid rhymes, stunning choreography and brain-breaking pastels. Will either sports or music ever reach these dizzying heights again? Hopefully not. [MLYT]
That's a mighty fine collection, Toby. But if it doesn't include a tight shot of Lanny McDonald's big ole squirrel's tail of a mustache as he lipsyncs an '80s synth-pop melody, backed by a horn section consisting of the starting line-up of the 1986-87 Calgary Flames, it just doesn't fully address the Super Bowl Shuffle's awesome legacy.

I don't think Da Bears are getting back in the studio anytime soon. To promote the upcoming season, they have resorted to ripping off Improv Everywhere's "High Five Escalator" stunt. [original | Bears version]

Also, the 1991 Falcons had Hammer's "Too Legit Too Quit."

Sure, they're ripping off Improv Everywhere, but their version is much cooler; I mean, who would you rather high five, random Improv Everywhere guy or Israel Idonije? That said, I would be happy if the Bears just put together a season that didn't suck.

As a lifelong Chicago resident who has since witnessed a World Series victory, a Stanley Cup, and six NBA championships, can someone please make the 1985 Chicago Bears go away! Oh, look a new Dominick's is opening up, here come Steve McMichael and "Danimal" Dan Hampton with a giant pair of scissors to cut the ribbon! I worked at Rose Records in '89 and believe me, there were like a million of these 12" singles in the cut-out bins for 49 cents apiece. Please, merciful god, make it die once and for all.

Is it just me, or was that a very young Jim Rome on lead vocals for the Dolphins video?

I heard that they were recording new material back in '98, but I guess that didn't pan out.

#4 from the Bears' Super Bowl Shuffle (Maury Buford) lives a few houses down from me in a middle class neighborhood in the DFW-area. Nice guy. He did my roof. Seriously.

I have to agree with nimmpau here. It's been 25 years. Please, Chicago, let it go. Yes, they were a fun bunch of guys, and yes, there's still something of an 80s revival going on (at least for the next 13 months), but please give it a rest.

Look, I know it's the Bears and all, but I really don't think it's fair to try and blame them for that entire series. At a certain point, Miami has to take responsibility for their own shameful and tragic decisionmaking skills. Zebra pants, really? Just because you can...
P.S. nimmpau, one of those twelve-inches is in my record collection right now. Would you like to have it? Really, it's no trouble.

When the Bears win another Super Bowl we'll let the last one go.
Maybe. That team was epic.
Hockey and baseball championships don't cut it. Especially when it was the Sox. Maybe it was just me, but there did seem to be a lull in the nostalgia during Jordan's reign in the '90s. But it's going to take something of that magnitude.
Fucking Rex Grossman.

CPS school sanctioned snowball fight and orgy?
Shit. I missed out by going to Catholic School.
I agree with everyone. This has to die. It's already been slow and painful. Just let it go already.
Hawks celebration was way better than the Bears anyway.

The Blue Wave is on a roll!
Anyone else that lived in WA in the 80s remember "Chucka Knox" based on Chaka Khan's "I feel for you"? I can find reference to it online but no link. Damn song has been stuck in my head for 25 years.
Also, We are the kickers!
