Sept 18 marks the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's untimely death. In commemoration, the Experience Music Project (names so when Paul Allen could not secure the rights to the name "Jimi Hendrix Museum") is holding a two day event including screening of a new(ish) documentary which aired on Biography. (seems Jimi's been mentioned on the blue before)
Parenthetical: I've been reading a Miles Davis biography that concentrates on his "electric years" called Miles Beyond, and Hendrix comes up several times. Apparently, he & Miles Davis got together a few times, with an eye towards future projects. What could have been...

How a man as big as Hendrix jammed into this elfin costume boggles the mind, but there is some evidence if one gets down and looks closely at the crotch: Hendrix broke the seams in the pants onstage.
He doesn't look unusually big, you can surmise his height in relation to the guitar... Oh wait! That's right, his dick is big!!!!!! Whoa man!

But seriously, I love the phase he was going into with Band of Gypsys and you can tell there was a ton of amazing work that was about to be created. I suspect he may have moved into the jazz and possible "fusion" territory though ( i don't like jazz in my rock) . But who knows , maybe he would have made jazz rock and "fusion" into something good.

I've also read that Hendrix was supposed to jam with Hawkwind at the Isle of Wight but the acid he had there didn't agree with him and the jam subsequently didn't happen.

Fun fact: Hendrix's favorite guitarist was Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
