Dang, my palms are sweating. Daaaaang.

This is almost worse than that video months back of the broadcast tower repair. That one at least had that thin veil of narration to make it kind of academic.

I need a towel.

Utterly bodacious brah, could you like shut up and film the view a little better.

Well, that just saved me $5. There's no way I'm going to be able to eat lunch after watching that...

And, no kidding. My palms are literally dripping with sweat after watching that.....

How about - the next time you're up at the top of that building you can film it however you want?

I think my brain must be missing an important glob of flesh because I'm a complete wuss when it comes to things like centipedes and worms and loud noises but I love watching stuff like this and the transmission tower video. Like all the ball-clenching fear I'm supposed to feel gets somehow converted to "oh my god, I want to be there right now."

This is almost worse than that video months back of the broadcast tower repair.

See, I was thinking just the opposite; the last video had the view getting incrementally higher each second, and the first person perspective meant that you were watching the hands making scary decisions that you had no control over.

This one just put me up in a hight space right away with no real context. It's basically the same view I could get hanging off the skid of a helicopter, which is freaky, yeah. But it doesn't seem to have the same impact for me for some reason.

I have a tremendous fear of heights, but I generally don't have too much of a problem with these videos. Now, if I was watching a high def version on an IMAX sized screen... that would be a different matter.

However, watching a video and being there are not at all the same.

True enough, but I like actually being there at the tops of things too. (Although if I'm somewhere high up and I look at something even higher I get a twinge of fear. Go figure.)

At least if you fell off this tower you'd have plenty of time to make peace with the universe before you splatted. If you didn't black out, of course.

Maybe about 20 seconds at the most.

Sorry, guys, but as a veteran acrophobe, I'm just not feeling it. Too much focus on the brahs and not enough on them getting up there, really getting a perspective on how high up they are, etc. One brief shot, a few seconds long, down the tower (with foreshortening not really giving a really good perspective of their real height) doesn't cut it. Now that one video with the transmission tower, that was something.

You know the moment towards the end of Aliens when the complex is about to go nuclear and and the alien queen has arrived at the top of the elevator shaft and Ripley tells Newt to close her eyes and then the shuttle Bishop is flying comes up into frame and James Horner's score goes BLAAAARE!! ?

That's the sound I hear in my head when they point the camera straight down.

The curious thing about base jumping is that the higher the tower, the less dramatic it is (to me, not a base jumper). Much scarier to me are the folks who jump off low towers & bridges and whatnot with fractions of seconds to get the chute open. Like this. (Warning, sped-up porn soundtrack, but SFW)

Yeah, that perspective is abstract. The Burj Dubai all but disappears; all you can see is the spire. But the spire is probably less than a tenth of the total height.

What the hell is up with you people and chai? I once had a roommate who made masala chai for us. You boil milk and water, add some type of black tea, add ginger, cardamom, sugar, etc. I cannot remember the entire concoction, but it was pretty awesome. You can sometimes get a decent chai at an Indian restaurant.
