Quoll family completes epic 5600km (3479 miles, which is further than New York to San Francisco) roundtrip after accidentally nesting in pumpkin box. The carnivorous critters from Far North Queensland needed some TLC after being found a little worse for wear at a wholesale market in Melbourne.

extremely adorable
I don't know...a quoll looks like maybe what happens to a quokka when you feed it after midnight, a la Gremlins.

It looks like their carriages turn into pumpkins after midnight.

Yeah a quoll is absolutely an ‘oven gloves’ class marsupial at best

I like that they were returned to "peak condition" before released into the wild.

There are several species of quoll in Australia, and many of the quoll species are under threat due to habitat loss, predation by feral cats, and from eating poisonous cane toads. So wildlife rehab people take looking after quolls seriously.

TIL that there are species of marsupial predator where the males literally fuck themselves to death the first chance they get.

"We identified a really good release location near a creek with a little timber burrow that they could run into and find shelter, which was in pretty close proximity to the farm where they came from," Mr Perera said.“

Aww, that’s a happy ending!

We didn't want to drop them back in too close to the farm because we might find them in Melbourne again.

No one enjoys an unnecessary see quoll.

It's not just quolls: it's true of almost every animal in the
scientific Family Dasyuridae [which includes quolls, but also small carnivores the size of mice] apart from Tasmanian Devils.

This is the high quollity content I expect from MeFi.

Very puzzling title and first sentence if you assume the quolls are a human family named Quoll.
