They left out the snow! Aren't you supposed to roll around in the snow afterwards?

En usko, että tämä kääntää oikein, mutta ne muutamat ylpeä suomalaisista jäseniä tämän sivuston, haluan teidän tietävän, että en syyttää hirven puremista siskoni.

The person who wrote this post has been scrapped.

You mean sacked, I hope. The alternative would be much messier.

This is why no one messes with the Finns.

Well, except for Kake, of course.

Does my heart good to see an article written in Finglish.

I took a sauna with a Finn once. That jump into icy water part is intense, your head explodes. But afterward, you are almost unnaturally relaxed.

Could not read the whole article though. Gave me a headache.

Well, without a cerebral cortex to command muscle movement, "unnaturally relaxed" is perfect description of how you'd be.

I'm a little bummed that I left Helsinki this morning after two nights there and I wasn't able to do sauna. I met up with some friends just after they did theirs and they were so relaxed looking they probably could have passed out standing up.

In Finland this language is called rally driver English. It's becoming rare as younger Finns are often exposed to spoken English at an early age (also, Finnish rally drivers are nowhere as good as they were in the 80s and 90s). A related term is tankero English which is complex language pronounced badly, often by politicians, government officials and CEOs.

In my family's part of Michigan they called this Finglish and it pretty much died off with the older generations. Somewhere in my house I have an old book of nursery rhymes and other stories for kids (including one that described sisu) all written in Finglish. I wish I could find it.

Everyone makes fun of me for installing a Finnish sauna at my home in Texas. "hahahaha, just step outside!" ... then I make it hot enough to boil the TX humidity out of the air, my friends hate me for a bit, then twelve to eighteen minutes later, they're a relaxed puddle of goo.

... would love to figure out how to get frigid water for the after-shower though. All I can manage is cold.

I'd be remiss if I didn't post a comment in a thread about Finns. So here it is. Ei tavata torilla.
