From YouTube channel Legends Of Soapbox Racing, I present to you London's BEST CRASHES EVER #redbullsoapboxrace #londoncrashes [28m]. It's a cavalcade of hilarious car designs and amusing sudden ends. Despite the crashing, there don't appear to be any real injuries.

not to get philosophical about it, but isn't human play just a wonderful thing?

To anyone who enjoyed this, I would also recommend videos of the annual Gloucestershire cheese rolling chase. Here is a representative example.

Don't people get truly seriously injured during that downhill cheese chase? Like, sometimes life-changingly injured?

This is not that.

Here's what Wikipedia says about injuries at the cheese roll (orthography Americanized by me):

"Due to the steepness and uneven surface of Cooper's Hill, there are usually several injuries each year...Canadian competitor Delaney Irving won the ladies race in 2023, despite finishing unconscious, and only learning of her victory in the medical enclosure. A total of six competitors were [hospitalized] following the event. Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling has been summarized by a previous participant as 'twenty young men chasing a cheese off a cliff and tumbling 200 yards to the bottom, where they are scraped up by paramedics and packed off to hospital.'"

OK, that was pretty fun to watch. British folks sure can enjoy watching failure. Commentary is great.

If it's broken bones and road rash, those are no fun but they heal eventually. It's the potential for permanent, spine-related injuries that freak me out, and why I would chicken out of something like this. And times ten for that cheese roll madness.

Why did you post this knowing I was going to be doing work this weekend, and when needing a break checked the blue for a 5-minute respite, and now I'm never going to get anything done?

The play, the joy, the dedication to the bit, if one could say that... all so good.
