The CBC Radio 3 Digital Magazine ran from November 2002 until March 2005, garnering numerous accolades in Canada and abroad with its unique blend of music, journalism, literature and photography. Here is the complete archive of 105 issues.

Over the course of its brief run, the magazine won over 20 awards, including one Art Directors Club award, two New York Festival Awards and three Communication Arts Awards, and was featured in several web and design books. I don't know where to begin to appreciate this post. Maybe some highlights to get me started?

Huh. So odd.

Radio 3's current web site is awesome. That is all.

Oh man. I wish this was searchable. There was a section on Trampoline Hall in there somewhere with some sample lectures (audio and photos), and it was so good.

Sooo....here's some stuff?

I mean, apparently it's great, but why is it great?

Heatherann it is in the May 23, 2003 issue.

As soon as I saw this, it reminded me of something I used to enjoy but haven't thought about in years. Anyone else remember "Shift" magazine?

Damn people here know how to whine.

Radio 3 is dope.

It's great for many reasons, one of them being that each issue contains a kick ass mix tape of independent Canadian music.
Which is, in case it escaped anyone's attention over the past decade, some of, if not the, best music in the world.

Hey, this thing! One of the Year Two issues featured my very first photoblog.

It was a pretty impressive effort by CBC, but I'm grateful that this kind of inaccessible full-screen Flash interface is rare now. Even the way they have these archives set up is awkward, with no way to link to individual issues.

The new Radio 3 is much improved. The original, come to think of it, might work pretty well as an iOS app. Ahead of its time?

Oh, wow, I loved these at the time. I'm so happy to see they are available online! I'm trying to remember which issue contained some really neat long exposure star photography.

davebush, I remember "shift" magazine on line. Metafilter's Blue reminds of that website a lot. It introduced me to a lot of blogs and interesting web activity.

Absolutely. Anyone have any favorite episodes? This is a great archive, but not very useful to those of us taking a first plunge in.

I love CBC radio. It's sure not perfect, but it's the best radio I've found.
