"MICHAEL LOMONACO - CHEF/DIRECTOR, WINDOWS ON THE WORLD"

I wonder if he made it? was he even there when it happened?

There are going to be too many ghost sites attached with this act ... I don't think we need to point to every one.

Agreed, Dillenger. Sometimes MetaFi'ers spend a little too much time spotting links and trying to be cute, and not enough thinking about others - in this case, everyone involved with Windows On The World.

I think it's a good post ... the loss of WOTW really does sink in. It was a frivolous, fun touristy restaurant, the sort of place you took your cousins from Kansas when they were visiting. Not a business lunch place, not a casual neighborhood spot, not chic-hipster spot, not a romantic-dinner spot. It was New York as "Experience" rather than New York as "Lifestyle."

This renovation notice brings it home.
In order to complete the renovations on schedule and with the minimum inconvenience to Club members and guests, it will be necessary to close the Windows on the World dining room for breakfast and lunch beginning Monday, July 30 until Monday, September 10th.
It appears that they had just reopened Monday after a long renovation.

I'm not saying it was a bad post ... it would just be morbid for everyone with a ghost site to do the same thing.

Speaking of ghost sites ...

This is the page of a web cam that was on the World Trade Center, pointed at the Brooklyn Bridge.

OK, just for information's sake, see this (about 2/3 of the way down the page).

Error processing SSI file '/wow/whatsnew.shtml'

Says it all, really.
