Can someone establish a parallel between this and the recent tragedy? I don't know how many of you have already seen this, but to me it seemed pretty funny.
I remember some telemarketer called me just a few hours after the accident. I just said 'not interested' out of habit but I should of swore my head off at them or found out where they were calling from and maybe bring some bad publicity on them. With people trying to contact their families too, crap.

Nobody is so "smart" that they are not someday, sometime, for some reason they may not quite be able to put their finger on, vulnerable to the right pitch from the right salesperson. You may get a hundred calls from a hundred telemarketers before that right combination of product, pitch and your mood come together. The next thing you know, you've bought something from a complete stranger over the phone. Same thing with pop-up ads. You may click out of a thousand without ever looking at them. Then one day, for some reason (probably because the ad has a pretty girl in it), you'll pause, you'll read the ad, and against all your good judgement, you'll think to yourself, "Hmmm, maybe I could really use an X-10 Camera." Shame on you!

I think the point was that he was buying over the phone.

Best strategy for dealing with telemarketers, reminiscent of "Seinfeld":
Telemarketer: "I'm calling to offer you riches beyond your wildest dreams, as well as the opportunity to switch your long-distance phone carrier. Are you interested in this exciting opportunity?"
Me: "Yes!" (hang up)
