Enough of a trope by Orwell's time to make it into 'Politics and the English Language': "The Fascist octopus has sung its swan song, the jackboot is thrown into the melting pot."

A longstanding cartographic trope too!

Too bad octopuses are so damn cute and smart. Couldn't we find a more repulsive creature to represent the many arms of evil?

It should be "octopuses Wall Street". Octopi is wrong.

I demand that Vampire Squid be used to represent Wall Street. Octopuses are awesome and do not deserve the negative reputation.

Actually, I think Vampire Squid are also really awesome, and shouldn't have their reputations ruined.
Can't we just use Wall Street as the lowest base form?

First they came for the two legged creatures
and I didn't speak because I didn't have two legs.
Then they came for the four-legged creatures
and I didn't speak because I'm not actually a four-legged creature
Then they came for the eight-legged creatures
and I got pissed off worrying about what they would do to creatures with 16 legs.

As long as they leave the animals with two left feet alone, you'll be fine.

I think the Liquor Octopus has gotten a bad rap. He has always treated me with kindness and dignity, even while clinging to my outsized cranium.

There's a long American tradition of mixing economic populism with cephalopods.to be backed up with a generous amount of examples, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Octopi is wrong.
I wouldn't say it's wrong. It's about 25.13274123. Hard to say that's wrong.

No, it is wrong on a moral level.
Octopi is the one intrinsic evil--the only intrinsic evil.

Occupy Occupy Wall Street
Obviously a false flag operation, that one guy's shirt is too small for his neck and as far as I can tell one of them know how to tie a Windsor knot.
Yo guys, go get measured before you buy another shirt.
