Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, David Salle, and Eric Fischl are some contemporary, living artists who have caught my attention. Who are some of your favorite living artists?

I'm a fan of John Copeland and Giant.

Well, Jeff Koons has, erm, caught my attention. He seems to be the new lowpoint of the long deliberate-fraud line that misuses Warhol's influence. Hasn't his momentary glitz in the NYC art scene gone away, though?

Hirst I quite like, though.

argybarg, true, yet Jeff Koons has recently had a makeover and the critics are giving praise to his new work. Check his new paintings Pancakes and Pam.

I particularly like James Turrell's work (the Roden Crater site seems to be down right now).

Hmmm...I'd have to say Joe Sorren. His stuff never fails to intrigue and delight me.

I (heart) patricking *duck*
The stuff at Conclave Obscvrvm is always interesting, and Paul Hamilton makes me go Ooooh.
I like some of Hirst's pieces, but can't stand those damned things with the hundreds of dots.

Greg Guirard (photography and writing), Francis X. Pavy (painting), Patrick Nagatani and Andrée Tracey (installations of painting and photography), Mitchell Gaudet (glass), Frederick Mershimer (mezzotint engraving and printmaking), Dr. Bob (folk art), Jerry Uelsmann (photography/photomontage), Adrian Deckbar (painting and drawing) ... the list goes on. It'd take me four lifetimes to be able to afford all the art I'd like to acquire from these and many others...

This year I was most impressed of Gregor Schneiders work for which he has won the Golden Lion on the Bienale of Venice 2001.

This guy paints meat and tikis. I can hardly take my eyes off the faces when I visit his site. Check the rendering of Leo in the gallery... no meat this time either (link in the comment on this old thread is a no lookie at work).

Al Hirschfeld. His line work is simply unparalleled. He's been working for the New York Times for more than 70 years. Find his official site here.
