Captain Ron is on Hulu.
There are only three Kurt Russell films in which he wears an eyepatch, and this is one of them.
The real star of the movie is the boat. It's a Formosa 51, and yes, it's been on the market.
The soundtrack is notable, and the film has become a cult hit due to it's highly quotable script. There's even a "Lebowskifest"-style convention. Oh, did I mention Martin Short and Mary Kay Place?

This and Big Trouble in Little China make Kurt Russel a national treasure. He has a billion other awesome movies too. Just watched The Thing last night again.
My mom and I will always watch Captain Ron or Overboard if I visit home and we're bored.

Raises hand. Guilty (pleasure) as charged. My goal is to be 1% as happy as Captain Ron.

Whoa... I got this DVD from Netflix and watched it for the first time in about 15 years a few days ago, and now it's on Metafilter. I think the ghost of Kurt Russell is trying to tell me something.

Kurt Russell is the John Wayne of my generation.
Yet...
I find this FPP lacking.

For some reason I was under the assumption that this post was about Ron Swanson.
Never seen the movie - I will have to check it out!

Too bad my hosts file prevents me from watching most videos on Hulu. I fucking love me some Martin Short. Kurt Russell is cool, too, though, I'm more of a fan of John Carpenter's Kurt Russell.

I'm pretty sure if I asked my wife to choose between Captain Ron and Overboard as her favorite Kurt Russell movie, she'd shut down like a robot trapped in some logical loop.

I'm more of a fan of John Carpenter's Kurt Russell.
As are most Kurt Russell fans, really. Without Elvis, Escape From New York, The Thing, and Big Trouble in Little China, Russell would be a Where Are They Now trivia entry, and we'd all be going, "That's the guy from The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes? Geez." I've had this argument with someone who tries to argue that Kurt Russell could have played Han Solo, because of this, and I tell him that he's obviously not that Kurt Russell yet.
